A dentist friend of mine, originally from Canada, sent me this video about the health care system in that nation. It's pretty good, only about five minutes.
Oh, Canada! This video reminds us that anything run by the government is bound to be more cumbersome than the same thing administered by self-interested, private individuals. It is an important point, especially since this issue will certainly come up in '08.
Right on Jason. Another side-note to this story, my friend's parents fled Canada because the father is a doctor and he was tired of being taken advantage of by the state-run health care system there. His salary was a mere pittance compared to what he now makes in the US.
So, aside from Canadian patients being forced to wait weeks and months for life-saving treatment, doctors are irked that their compensation is a paltry sum considering all their hard work to become doctors.
